Department of Gender Studies

Annie graduated summa cum laude from UC San Diego in 2019 with a B.A. in Critical Gender Studies and minors in History and Latin Literature. Her undergraduate research explored the cultural context surrounding Victorian era freak show performer Krao Farini's display, focusing particularly on emerging notions of femininity, whiteness, empire, and popular science.  Her thesis also focused on the ethical and methodological dilemmas that arise for feminist researchers working with archives rooted in exploitation and violence.

Her current research focuses on science and technology studies, particularly from queer, decolonial, and indigenous epistemes.  She is interested in feminist, technoscientific, and literary approaches to physician-assisted suicide, space exploration, and apocalypse rhetoric.
