- Course Description
This course explores ways of knowing about sex and gender as discourses invested in particular forms of power, aimed at marking the body. We look at various historical, geographical, and technological processes that configure the body, socially and culturally. We also engage with theoretical perspectives from feminist science studies to examine how technology and science produce both liberatory and oppressive relations between and across genders, sexes, sexualities, races, species, abilities, classes, and environments. Students will have an opportunity to work on a project of interest.
