Course Description

This course will discuss how the body is perceived, represented, and symbolically charged. Through a series of readings, we will explore sexed bodies, desiring bodies, corporeality, and body politics. We will challenge our standard understandings of sex, gender, femininity and masculinity through globalization, capitalism, human rights, health, ability, and the “value” of female bodies and femininity.
